Frozen Fruit

blackberries frozen fruit Ireland

In 2005 we built a coldstore on the farm capable of holding 300 pallets of frozen fruit product

Our main business now is importing and distributing frozen fruit and some vegetables all over Ireland, north and south.

We import directly from the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, China and Egypt. We  use many other agents to source product worldwide for us. We have pallets coming in almost every week from Holland and Belgium so any one product is only a week away from your factory at any time.

We have been in the fruit business since 1983 and have seen many changes in products and customer demands. In all this time we have moved and adapted with the industry and we know what each and every one of our customers want and we supply exactly what they want not what we think they should want. This is important from a customer’s point of view.

Individually Quick Frozen Fruit

All our frozen products are IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) and packed loose on the container whether in 4 x 2.5 kgs or 10 kgs. All the products for the wholesale or juice bars are packaged in 4 x 2.5 with a bar code on the carton. These cartons are ideal or catering as you have 4 bags in each box and so only a small amount is open at a time. For the bigger users such as jam makers most product is in a 10 kg carton with a blue polythene liner inside. We can also do a 25 kg bag if required but we stay away from this as a rule because of a bigger risk of damage to the bag and spillage.

Tins of Citrus Fruit

For the marmalade people we have a Seville orange in a tin. Traditionally this orange was purchased at the wholesaler or markets in January and the user then had to take it home and freeze it immediately and then defrost it as required, slice and prepare it which was a time and costly task, not to mention the storage space wasted in the freezer plus the electricity to run the freezer.

Now we have the same orange already prepared and cut to your requirements all in a tin ready to go. This tin is pasteurised to keep the product with nothing else added or taken away. It is the exact same Seville orange except that it is sliced and prepared in Spain instead of Ireland. This comes in 4.2 kgs / tin.

We also have lemon and grapefruit for marmalade in tins.

Wholesale Onions for Catering

You’ll have no more tears from peeling and cutting onions. We have diced and sliced onion in 10 kg cartons ready to use.

Certain lines in prepared vegetables are also carried. Fruit purees for the catering industry are frozen in a 10 kg pail.

We provide tomato puree or paste in bigger drums for the commercial manufacturer. This is an aseptic product and the one we use mainly is 20/22 Brix. This is in a 220 kg drum with 4 drums on a pallet.

Frozen Fruit

In 2005, we built a coldstore on the farm capable of holding 300 pallets of product. Our main business now is importing and distributing frozen fruit and some vegetables all over Ireland, north and south. We import directly from Belgium, Poland and China and use many other agents to source product worldwide for us. We use one particular agent in Holland to source most of our exotic fruits. We have pallets coming in every week from this one, and so any one product is only a week away from your factory. The coldstore is our own – there are no staff, no wages, no rent to pay. It is beside my house and so our overheads are minimal and therefore we are very competitive on both quality and price.

Due to increased customer demands, Sunnyside Fruit Ltd,  added a new forklift to its business in 2016 and a new Volkswagen Crafter Van in 2017.

Our Farm

Our farm in North Cork is very wildlife friendly and this can be seen by the huge presence of all sorts of flora and fauna. We are in the Rural Environment Protection Scheme (REPS)funded by the EU, and crops are also grown especially for the benefit for game birds and wildlife.

We have two small ponds on the farm, and on occasion one can see otters, newts, and lampreys which are common here. The Hen Harrier also hunts here at times as well as Kestrels, Sparrow Hawks and Merlins. At night we have the Barn Owl and Long Eared Owl. Conservation headlands are used in the fields as well as beetle banks to encourage insects. Trees and shrubs, such as buddleia, are chosen especially for their benefit to wildlife.

In conjunction with Rathcormac Game And Wildlife Club we are re-introducing the native Grey Partridge to to our parish and surrounding areas. Through the club’s website we also sell game crops and wildflower seed mixes.
